The Road to TOTY: Celebrating Ms. Mikayla Andrews

Every great educator has a story — a journey shaped by passion, purpose, and perseverance. For Ms. Mikayla Andrews, Forest Park High School’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year, that journey began long before she ever stepped into her own classroom.

Growing up in a small town in Southeast Georgia, Ms. Andrews always knew she wanted to be a teacher. Her love for education was sparked by one of her greatest inspirations — her math teacher, Ms. Newkirt, whose energy, encouragement, and love for math showed her just how powerful a great teacher can be.

After graduating, Ms. Andrews set her sights on the Atlanta area with a clear mission: to bring fun back to math and inspire students to see its beauty and purpose. In just five short years, she has made an incredible impact on both her students and her colleagues.

At Forest Park High School, Ms. Andrews wears many hats with grace and excellence. She currently serves as Math Department Chair, Content Lead for Algebra, Brand Ambassador, Webmaster, and Assistant Cheerleading Coach. Whether she’s leading her department, supporting new teachers, designing engaging lessons, or motivating her cheer team, her passion for student success shines through in everything she does.

Ms. Andrews’ “Road to TOTY” is paved with hard work, creativity, and heart. Her journey reminds us that teaching is more than a profession — it’s a calling. And through her leadership and love for learning, she continues to inspire the next generation to dream big, think critically, and believe in themselves.
